His Eminence Archbishop Daniel has been the Bishop of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest since July of last year. Before serving in the Midwest, he worked with Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco as the Bishop of Santa Rosa, CA. He will be speaking about his recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land and how we can encounter Christ ourselves on a daily basis.
Born and raised in California, his Eminence was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, and he attended seminary at Saint Patrick’s College Seminary, where he graduated in 1981. Following his ordination, he served in a variety of capacities and was especially involved in the Portuguese American community, all the while feeling a pull to the Orthodox faith. He continued his education and received a degree in canon law from the Catholic University of America and was received into the Orthodox Church in 1997.
