April 3, 2020

We continue to provide bagged meals to the community every day at 11:30 and 5:30. Fifty different groups helped us in the month of March and we are so grateful!

Our food needs are pretty well covered until April 12. If your group would like to provide a meal after the 12th, please contact Santhe at 216-232-6003 or Albert at 216-961-3806 or email us at sainthermans@focusna.org. We’re coordinating all of the donations of food to ensure that every day is covered and that we don’t have too much or too little on a certain day. Please call us before purchasing/preparing food so that we can put you on the schedule!

The people that we serve are in as much need as ever, and your contributions make it possible for us to help them meet their daily needs. Your financial support is also greatly appreciated & needed at this time. You can make a donation online by clicking the blue Donate button in the upper right hand corner.

Thank you for your support!

March 20, 2020

We continue to receive many calls from individuals and groups wanting to help. We are so grateful! As of now, we are scheduling meal donations in early April.

If you would like to help us, please call Santhe at 216-232-6003, Albert at 216-961-3806, or email us at sainthermans@focusna.org before you purchase food or assemble bags! We want to be good stewards of everyone’s resources and make sure that all donations are used in a timely fashion.

If you are interested in helping, contact us and we will happily put you on our meal calendar for a date in the near future.

In the meantime, we are also accepting donations of canned goods and other non-perishables. Items we can use are : canned meats like tuna and chicken, canned pastas, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables and fruits, and peanut butter and jelly.

As always, we thank you for your steadfast support.

March 12, 2020

Dear Faithful Friends of St. Herman House,

Like you, we have been following closely the developments locally and around the world with regard to COVID-19. At this time, our intention is to maintain all of our programs so that we can continue to serve the people that depend on us. We are, however, going to change the way we carry out those programs so that we can do our part to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect the safety of our residents, volunteers and guests.

Effective Saturday, March 14, we will temporarily cease serving hot meals at St. Herman’s. Instead, we will be serving carryout bagged meals at lunch and dinner. This will be in effect at least until April 4. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Our other services, particularly the clothing pantry for men and grocery bags for families, will continue normally.

In order to make this temporary switch in programming, we need your help. We are looking for parishes, other faith-based groups, and organizations to assemble bagged meals so that we have enough to distribute each day. If you can help, please email us at sainthermans@focusna.org or call Santhe at 216-232-6003. Our plan is to schedule the donations so that we can ensure that we have enough food each day for the coming weeks.

Contents in a bagged meal:

  1. A meat and cheese sandwich, with sliced cheese and all-beef lunchmeat, turkey, or ham
  2. Bottled water
  3. Piece of fruit (banana, apple or orange) or a fruit cup and plastic spoon
  4. Small bag of chips
  5. Napkin

Place all items in a paper bag and write the type of sandwich on the outside of the paper bag. (Some of our guests don’t eat pork, so it helps to know the contents of the sandwich.)

We are also asking for donations of bottled water, hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol), disinfectant wipes, and granola bars or other individually wrapped cereal bars. If you want to donate these items, you do not need to notify us in advance. Donations can be dropped off between 9-5 seven days a week. You can call us from the driveway at 216-961-3806 and we’ll come outside and pick it up.

As always, thank you for your faithful support of St. Herman House. Please pray for us as we continue to pray for you. Our prayer is that the Lord will keep all of us safe while at the same time allowing us to fulfill our mission.
